Just to keep everyone up to speed with where we are at in
the teaching program. We are now
benefiting from the move closer to the village with easier access to the people
that have expressed interest in knowing and understanding God’s Word. I have been meeting with Janji and his wives
and younger children regularly. I also
have resumed another small group of men that I was teaching last year(Wiye, Musaa, and Simiti. We've also had a newcomer to the group, Bamba) .
You may wonder why these two groups don’t meet
together. The answer is fairly simple,
they don’t get along and wouldn’t meet together. I say this not to speak bad of them in any
way, it is just a reality here. Everyone
here knows this. When the small group
and I were talking about setting up a regular meeting on of the guys asked me, “we’re
not going to have to meet with Janji are we?”
I share this with you so that you will pray for our little
groups, that they may one day come together to reflect the common element that
they share.
Eph. 4:11-16
11 And
he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and
teachers, 12 to
equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until
we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so
that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried
about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful
schemes. 15 Rather,
speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the
head, into Christ, 16 from
whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is
equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it
builds itself up in love.
Pray that they would grow in maturity, be equipped
themselves for the work of the ministry, and be able to speak the truth to one
another in love.
There is another reason they don’t meet together… They are at different places
spiritually. With Janji’s family we are
in evangelistic lessons. With the small
group of guys we are reviewing the basics of the gospel and looking at some of
the Old Testament stories they already know and showing how Christ was the
fulfillment of God’s promises since the beginning. These are both fun groups to teach and the
material is awesome. So I don’t mind the
extra lessons.
I am also teaching Mamadu, our faithful employee. Sometime I'll do a bio on Mamadu.
There is another man who has expressed interest, Demba. But we haven't started yet as he was "not available". (We'll see what that means in time.) Pray for him.
