Trip to Mali with First Baptist of Keller April 24-30

The trip to Mali was with First Baptist of Keller (FBK). I really enjoyed working with Keith & Alisa Arnett, and Mary Lord who which made up our team. Though there was another translator planned to go on the trip, he couldn't make it so it worked out that I was the translator. I had never done this before but Keith was gracious and it was a lot of fun. We were gone from Kedougou for 6 nights.

We visited 3 different villages: Y, F, & X. (FBK likes to keep their names secret).

One of my goals in going was to see if I could be involved in the discipleship of the folks that had expressed faith in Christ. FBK was very open to this idea and the believers in the different villages were as well. So it looks like I'll be heading back that way in the future. Please pray for this.

One of the great things about this trip was going to see places that I had only heard about until now. Many of my friends in Madina came from this area and it was great seeing where they grew up. This doesn't relate well to the western mind which isn't too attached to land and roots anymore but it is very important to the Jalunga way of thinking.

At this point I'm planning to head back to Mali at least to the villages of Y & F, where there was the most interest. I will probably spend a few days in each place. I would like this to develop into a regular visit in which I can spend a few days in intense teaching and then leave written materials and audio on mp3 players for them to review in my absence.
