One of our four friends that stole from us awhile back served his time these last two weeks. It was a learning experience for us all. The studies went well on the whole. We studied twice a day most days – occasionally 3 times. He followed along very well with the material. He readily admitted he was a sinner. The real rub lies here: how do we save ourselves from our sins: good works or faith in a Savior? I laid out the case for Christ as best I could from Scripture and we summarized our time together comparing the two answers to the big sin problem. In the end he expressed his appreciation for our taking the time to explain things to him and said that he would think on it. Please pray the Lord would use the truth he has heard to give him true life in Christ.
Thanks to all those who prayed for us during this time. There were some frustrating moments as you can imagine and the thought literally came to mind, "why don't I just let him go home, he'll get what's coming to him..." This is not the compassionate heart of Christ, but left to myself I would have ruined the whole two weeks for us and perhaps eternity for our friend. So thank you for praying for me. By the Lord's grace I was able to regain control over these thoughts and the Lord gave wisdom in how to deal with these difficult situations. Also the Lord sustained our health through the time as well. Just as I was finishing the last lesson I was coming down with malaria and I was able to finish before it got serious that very night.
Please pray for the next group that will be coming toward the end of the month or the beginning of August. Thank you all.
