Some have asked, "where did you get the idea to host the thieves in your home?"
In God's providence about the time that I found the 4 guys all together in the village I was reading a biography on Alfred the Great. He was the king of Wessex in the 9th century. The book is entitled "The White Horse King". It is a fascinating read about how this great king literally transformed his country's defenses, increased its economic production, built educational system, and greatly improved the physical infrastructure of the cities and highways all in one lifetime. At one point during his reign Alfred was literally driven off the throne by the Vikings that were constantly raiding his land at that time. After a time on the run with only a handful of faithful followers with him he rebuilt his army and took back his country. In the process he defeated a large Viking army that had installed themselves in one of his cities. Rather than killing the leader of the Viking army he offered to make him his son and see him baptize him into the Christian faith. The Viking leader agreed to this and for 10 days he stayed with Alfred in his hall feasting and receiving gifts from the benevolent king. During his stay with Alfred he was baptized, took a Christian name as Alfred's adopted son, and learned the basics of the Christian faith. After which, Alfred sent him back to his home. This Viking leader and his followers never again invaded the lands of Alfred the great.
So we are adopting these young men for a couple of weeks with the hope to gain some new family members in the process. The reason for the work is I believe it is important for young men to work physically. It is not good for them to just sit around eating big meat and drinking tea. So love compels me to give them this opportunity.
We appreciate your prayers.
